                 he’s sentimental. it’s a trait that has shown itself in mystery spot (he saw the parallels between himself and sam, which was why he tried to teach sam that lesson, and those parallels eventually led to him taking mercy on sam and giving in) and in hammer of the gods (‘what can i say, i’m sentimental.‘ he went back into the hotel to save kali, & for no other reason than that), and it constantly tempers his judgment and affects his actions. he really hates how much sentimentally holds sway over him. but i mean, too much heart wasn’t just castiel’s problem.
